Description

Tried to replicate a walk in local forest. Tougher than expected. Considered sticking something in the foreground, but nothing worked (fairies, horses, huntsmen...). Decided to stop fiddling and see what people think, though I suspect that this is one of those images where it is what it is and anything else would detract. Opinions most welcome. It's a Vue render, with loads of Ms Lush's excellent trees and other autumnal stuff from Cornucopia. The volumetrics were done in PS, as per the rather good Geekatplay tutorial.

Beautiful scene, I think I'd have added a bird on the branch in the distance but it's lovely as it is.

Well .. my first impression was: "This is like entering a new dream." You know, that initial sub-liminal awareness where a slow feeling envelopes you .. kin to a call drawing you forward .. to what? .. you have no conscious knowledge .. yet you must follow onward. I like it. Images which serve as "portals" have always been enchanting to me. I have made them with cameras since I was a teenager. There are always a few on my walls which serve as meditative tools for writing and general inspiration. This is the manner in which your work here appeals to me. There are some groves in England and Ireland, I have visited which posses a potent chthonic energy. In once instance this force was so powerful it brought me to tears. It is as if the energy of whatever events had ocurred among those trees has somehow been kept vibrant across the centuries, even amplified. This world is still very much alive and conscious .. no matter how much concrete or steel we pour over her and bind her with. I relate this experience because your image reminds me very much of these groves. Tim Tripp is a Photographer friend here at Ren'. Look into his gallery at the latest image and also at "Timely" & "Fall in Florida". I have spent a lot of time in Florida over the years. What Tim sees, and portrays so beautifully, is a Florida of another time. He's really wonderful at this. For me, you have opened such a door here and like in a dream one wants to follow on .. even if we don't know where it will lead .. one hopes it will be to another, more enchanted, age. Mark, I've not missed your other recent works. I will return to them with comments. I don't like to respond to work in-depth unless my senses are free from stress and polution of my daily world. These past weeks have been quite noisy. Today we have fine timing. It is an early Sunday morning here, following a solid night's sleep .. and I paused to enjoy your latest image and respond, even before my first coffee. Warmest regards, Terry

A really beautiful misty atmosphere! I think your mood gives enough suggestion, not surprised anything in the foreground didn't work, it's very balanced just the way it is, that's what I would say :) I think suggestions through a mysterious mood are stronger than the objects themselves, gives plenty of room for our imagination.

Beautiful picture, wonderful mood and details. I think you're right to leave the characters out, more often than not they tend to ruin a scene. 5*

Very very good job! I love how the light falls down the trees, those rays of light in the mist, the gentle colors. This is very inspiring.

Some pictures just can't be "improved" upon. I think your subconscious was telling you so. It's perfect just as it is. You have included everything it needs to lure us in and make us want to stay. Just beautiful work.

The second I laid eyes on this magnificent piece my mind took me back to the place I grew up. I can remember walking in the woods next to our home. Sometimes when the light was right it produced a wonderful scene as you have portrayed here.. Thank you for making me recall those wonderful memeories, I thought I forgotten all about it.. apparently not.. :)

It has a painterly quality to it. Also, I think it instills a sense of loneliness.

What a beautiful dreamlike scene. I'd love to see some birds, too--maybe peacocks! But with or without birds, it's a gorgeous image. Great job!
