Description
This is moonrise last Saturday night. Julia and I were in Arkansas on top of the east end of Blanchard Mountain with the White River in the valley down below us. Before the moon rose it was extremely dark, with the only natural light source being the glow from the Milky Way galaxy, brighter than I've seen it in many years.
Actually even after the moon appeared it was still dark. My truck was a couple of hundred yards behind us, and to assist us from falling off the edge and also to keep passing motorists from slamming into it (since it was parked so close to the road), I had left the parking lights on. Although they're not very bright, you can see the orange light from them on the road in the lower right foreground of the picture. At the time this was not visible to us at all.
This is a 30 second exposure, ISO 800, f/4.5, with a focal length of 26mm.
Somehow we managed to not lose any lenses or fall off the edge, which was extremely close to the road. I don't think we spilled any of our wine either. We must be getting experienced in our craziness!
Thanks for stopping by!

.....not to mention the coyotes howling in the distance and the almost "Deliverance" moment and nearly running out of gas!
