Description

Hi, thanks for having a look. More time spent doing Vue landscaping while I ought to be working on other things... this is just addicitve now. Procedural terrain using the Peaks function, the terrain fractal and the strata filter with various levels of blending in the function editor. This is a technique I learned from watching the AsileFX "What's new in Vue8" tutorial series. Yes I'm a tutorial junkie now too... One spectral cloud layer and a metacloud in the foreground. Rock materials are from Chipp Walters "TerraPak" and snow is a standard Vue Material. I love tweaking material layers to get an interesting and realistic look. You can see some striations where the snow is sitting that are slanted because of the way that the strata function was angled. Lighting is global radiosity - so most of the terrain lighting is bounced light. It's really neat how GR is able to give realistic indirect lighting and a nice contrast between sunlight and shadow. Cranked lighting and atmospheric quality settings to +4 and rendered using the 'final' settings with the anti-aliasing changed to 'soft' to smooth out any remaining cloud noise. Render time was 16 hours at 1920x720. Most of that was rendering the metacloud in the front :) As always thanks for your comments and constructive critique. Have a great day!
