Description

This is a shot of the flag on the building across the street from my house taken Sunday. It flies half staff for the victims of the Ft Hood Shooting on Thursday. The state lost three soldiers in the attack. One of them, was cousin of a friend of mine from work. She has not been in since she was notified. Her tears as she left Thursday afternoon tell of a cousin and friend who will be very missed. My nephew was not there yet. He was supposed to be stationed there and still will be later. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families who have members affected by this senseless tragedy. God bless the defenders of this nation, past, present, living, and those who have passed on. We love you and greatly appreciate all you have done and do to keep our country safe and free. Please keep all the service men and women in your thoughts and prayers this Veteran's Day. Remember those who fought for your countries, and those who sacrificed their lives. Love and peace, Cheri

Sigh........and veterans day is tomorrow! This is a wonderful tribute sweetie, yet I really wish things had not turned out as they had,....such a senseless and careless waste of life! I am honored by all of those who serve,..and in their total debt. I know and have known of several who have paid the ultimate price for me and those I love. All who serve are hero's, we are free because of them, the land of the free, BECAUSE of the brave. I will light a candle for them, their families...........and all who follow. We are grateful, and humbled by them.

Well spoken and delivered, Cheri. My thoughts reflect yours. And, a quick and painful descent into hell for the assailant.

A Soldier's Prayer Hope is in Heaven, not far away Just close your eyes, he hears what you say. Feel him around you, He's everywhere Reachin' to touch you, know that he's there. Deep in the heart of a war, He hears a Soldier's Prayer. ....Collin Raye Very moving. I'm sorry for your friend's loss.

Well done Cheri! We have a parade here in Leavenworth later today...I'm hoping to go and maybe get a couple of pics while I am at it. I am retired from the Army and doubly appreciate your words...been to Fort Hood on numerous occasions.

We have had Armistice Day here today & it was Rememberance Sunday at the weekend. We had 2 soldiers die in Afghanistan last week, one 18 & his first deployment. Very, very sad. I agree Cheri we must never forget.

This is a gorgeous tribute. As art, the image itself is perfect, and I love the details. As a tribute, which is unavoidable with a flag at half-mast, it's touching and elegantly simple! In short, it's wonderful. It's a perfect tribute.

So beautifully captured Cheri. Even without the accompanied words, it speaks reams. The sorrow and the shame of what happened there at Fort Hood is tragic. And just before Veteran's Day. Sigh. May all the soldiers who fight for a free world be watched over, and kept safe.

Beautiful capture and moving tribute. They deserve our support and care. Many who serve are so young. It is heartbreaking to see young lives cut short. I am sorry for your friends loss.

I too held my silence on 'Remembrance Day (as we call it in the UK) ... same thing though..! Respect to all who wore a uniform... Especially those who died upholding the peace in it... Worthy picture, my friend.. Rob
