Description
At first this snake was trying to cross the concrete path with on comming bikers and screaming lady joggers. Me and another guy cautioned the on commers. He finally turned around and went back. A couple feet off the side he cureld up (didnt like me there) and wiggled his tail (this shot).
I think the focus is off to the right a bit, and even tho he wasnt that big I might have been a little shaky :)

I am so afraid of snakes. Fortunately there are not many species in Finland. Really powerful photo.

A really beautiful King snake. They are not always easy to identify because they come in several colors and patterns depending on the area they are found. Certain patterns and colors will dominate in "clans." They are not poisonous as you know but they do have unpredictable temperments. I have handled some with no problem and then, for no apparent reason, will turn and strike me. I have had a couple in rehab, several years ago. They are not the most beautiful snake, but they are very peaceful to watch - much like watching a tank full of tropical fish. :-) Yes, the focus is off but the overall shot is excellent.

Great shot! :) Rule of thumb when it comes to snakes. No closer then 10 feet! Unless you know how to haddle them. Even small ones can be dangerous.

Not a great friend of snakes either, but full marks for being brave enough, to get that close... Looks very similar to our Carpet Pythons, great capture. BB

What a cracking shot! This snake sure looks nasty and ready for action. Well done, the small depth of field adds to the dramatic effect!
