Description
I'm still uploading from last weekend when I went to Big Creak, this is the last animal I saw on the trail. I came up on a couple staring into the woods, they were looking at this Great Blue Heron. As you can see I was not successful in finding a clear view through the woods. He looked at me a couple times but went about his hunting.

Dang Rob - it is such a pity about that sprig of grass in the way... It would have been an absolute masterpiece with the wonderful backlight! Fantastic nonetheless and yes, it counts as a bird!!! LOL...

He's quite beautiful and I like the way the beak is highlighted by the light shining through it. Marvelous wildlife shot and I know its not easy to get close enough to take a shot like this. Congratulations.

Quite good through the weeds. Backlighting makes for an unusual effect. I've got one of these on a lake nearby...but he will not abide me getting anywhere close.

Wonderful! Yes, he definitely counts as a bird. The colors and lighting are perfect. You forgot to talk nice to him, if you had, he would have turned his head towards you slightly. Great shot!
