Description
Deep in the Arkansas Ozark Mountains, this is Blanchard Creek, which originates with its headwaters bursting forth from the side of Blanchard Mountain, as seen here in my previous post.
The creek takes this short path down the mountain and joins Sylamore Creek, which joins the White River and eventually hooks up with the Mississippi River, as everything else does east of the Great Divide.
This was the last pic I took on our twilight visit to Blanchard Springs last Saturday night. By this time it was so dark I couldn't focus at all, even though Julia had a flash light shining on the tree leaning over the creek on the right side. So thinking it was a throw-away shot, I took the photograph, packed up our gear and left.
Much to my surprise there was more than enough to work with even though the blossoming starlight was about to out do the few remaining remnants of what was once a bright sunny day.
This is a 30 second exposure, 400 ISO, f/4, with a 17mm exposure. That shows you how dark it was!
Should you ever be in north central Arkansas, go check out Blanchard Caverns and all associated with it. Well worth your time!
Thanks much,
marshall

Okay, this settles it! I know what I am going to be doing over the next few evenings... heading for the streams in my area to try out some of these low-light techniques. Fascinating work here!
