Description

[best viewed full sized] This shot was taken last Wednesday for the Night Shoot Forum Challenge set by Bruce (pushinfaders) and was on the only dry day we have had in about 3 weeks - the rain is pouring down as a write this. This is just around the corner, in fact the corner that you can see here, from where I live in the sleepy West Yorkshire village Of Scholes. There are three villages in West Yorkshire named Scholes - it is an ancient Viking name meaning "collection of wooden huts on top of the hill". This pic was shot in long exposure (30 secs) to be able to get the light trails as they are. The moon was added from a shot I took recently at full moon and merged into this image, also some of the windows have been "lit" in photoshop which is why I have placed this in the photo manipulation genre. Here's hoping for some much better weather soon for the UK - this constant rain is driving me mad! lol. Thanks for looking and any comments and critique are, as always, more than welcome and valued!!! Carl

Wow, my first thought was that the rings of Saturn had landed on Earth! This is really cool. The street lights on the left look like stars.

Great manipulation Carl. I saw the challenge and have gotten no further than thinking about going out at night and trying something like this. This provides motivation for me:)

I find myself completely fascinated by this shot...almost mesmorised!!! It is a fantastic long exposure capture Carl and the addition of the moon is an added bonus. I'm intrigued...... are these trailing lights from a passing vehicle and if so, what was it? I can see that the white lights would be headlights but I am baffled as to what the orange lights are as they are much higher than would be expected for a standard vehicle and tail lights are red?? Now this is what makes a superb photograph.... when it captures your viewer's imagination and gets them really looking at the shot :-) And this is a superb shot :-) xxx

sorry I should have said - the orange lights are from a passing bus - fluoresent tubes at a guess on board the bus that shone through the windows - I wasn't planning on there being a bus passing but I was quite pleasantly suprised when I saw the result
