[best viewed full sized] Hello all! This shot was taken last Wednesday in the early morning very close to where I live by about a two minute walk. I had intended to be shooting in the dark after dropping off a friend at the train station but unfortunately the lit up buildings that I wanted to capture for this months forum challenge were not in fact lit up - I guess they must switch them off in the very early hours of morning. This capture was taken using graduated filters, a polariser and a tripod. Despite using the grad filter I have had to blend four differently exposed images of the same RAW file as the light was already too strong by the time that I had got to this area. A boost in colour and saturation as well as dodge and burn was also used. Thanks for looking and any comments and critique are, as always, more than welcome and valued! Carl.

The details really come out when enlarged. This is a great mood piece. All is quiet, the only sound is of birds. Most people are still in bed but a few are up. The coffee is on and maybe some eggs are frying in the pan. And another day is about to begin. This really sparks the imagination. Great work.

i think this is wonderful and is a good example of how important a good sky is in the composition of a landscape photograph, i would rather have no sky at all than a bland one.
