Description

And she said, "How are you Harry? Haven't we played this scene before?" I said "It's so good to see you, Sue Had to play it out just once more." She said "I've heard you flying high on my radio" I answered "It's not all it seems" That's when she laughed and she said, "It's better sometimes When we don't get to touch our dreams." That's when I asked her "Where was that actress?" She said "That was somebody else." And then I asked her why she "looked so happy now?" She said "I finally like myself ... at last I like myself." -Harry Chapin, Sequel    Earlier this week I was drawn to work with my Natasha once again.  Some of you may remember (some definitely do) that Natasha is the dark-eyed Gypsy who took shape in the form of a custom morph back in early September.  For those just recently checking into this gallery, you can see Natasha in the portrait 'Don't Be Afraid of the Shadows.'  The image below will take you there.        thumb_1945359.jpg    What I started out attempting to accomplish this week was create an older Natasha.  How old?..  I did not know; just an elder woman.  After a while I was getting somewhere that felt a little older, until this persistent tugging on my sleeve guided the creative process in a different direction.    Although I was not sure exactly where we were going, it felt like a worthwhile impulse.  I decided not to rush the work and set it down, vowing to pick it up again, hopefully later in the week.    A late afternoon/early evening coffee break today allowed me a space in which to rejoin and complete what had begun earlier in the week.  Once I had finished, what looked back at me from the screen seems to my eyes to be the closest I have yet come to making a photographic portrait in 3D.    Is this an elder Natasha .. peering out of the shadows?  It looks a little like her .. but then again, it does not.  The years play tricks with faces sometimes .. could be it's her older sister who wanted equal attention .. or maybe its her mother.  I'm not sure ... not yet.  Perhaps after another session or two it will become clear just who was tugging at my sleeve.  For now, I am just happy she wanted to pose .. whoever she may be.    I wish you the finest of inspirations within your own creative endeavors! Terry

I'm going to have to agree with you, Natasha looks absolutely like a photo. Are you sure she's not a model hiding in your studio. Lol. She is much lovelier than her less mature self. But she still has a wonderful innocence about her. Her eyes are perfection, no doubt about that. Wonderful choice of the B/W.

A fantastic film noir image! The only thing missing is some cigarette smoke and Sam Spade saying 'Don't expect me to turn my back on you. Dames like you are always dangerous.'

Much more grow'd up. I like this one better. She looks like she might have something interesting to say. You're right about the photo-realism, though if I were printing it in the darkroom I'd want to dodge out some of those blacker shadows. Fine image, though.

Wonderful lighting to give this image a super 'feel'. I love her expression and her natural look. It will be interesting to see how old you go with the beautiful Natasha.

It realy does make ya wonder.. Secretly taking some pictures of the beautiful women you are hiding in your studio Terry? And trying to make them pass as renders? And leaving us, poor 3D dabblers, puzzled to the max! "...how DOES he do it??.." Shame on you Terry! And IF she is a render.. Where on earth is that "make look like photo" button??? Anywayz.. pay my regards to the lovely Lady will ya? ^_~

The thumbnail looked great, then you reeled me in with a Harry Chapin quote. I love that song, and "Taxi", and a lot of other songs of his. This is a great image! Very realistic looking and with a lot of character. The B&W and heavy shadows works beautifully. Very nicely done!

Not a mother, or an older sister, but the same girl now, oh say 21-22 rather than 16-18. She's been around abit, waitressed in a few seedy roadhouses, makes enough to live, not saving enough but no long term plans either. But now she knows she wants to do better. Not sure how yet.
