Description

In September of 1542, Explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo came ashore near the site of the the National Monument that honors him today. He noted that he'd found "a very good enclosed port" - San Diego Bay. Today, visitors to the Cabrillo National Monument at the tip of Point Loma in San Diego can gaze across the mouth of the bay, the US Naval Air Station, North Island, the city of Coronado to a bustling waterfront and downtown San Diego. I wonder what Cabrillo would think.

He'd think, OK, so where's my piece of the action? Nice panoramic view for those of us who haven't yet had the good fortune to really visit San Diego (I drove through it on the freeway 45 years ago enroute to Tiajuana).

This is a grand piece of work! I love your POV and the way in which you've captured the light and color! More brilliant stuff, and this is a place I'd love to see for myself. Great work!

This is a breath taking picture! Makes you feel as if you're on top of the world looking down...which you kind of are I would image. I love the depth of field and the feeling that you can see for miles as you take in the sensual California scenery-so fascinating and alien to those of us in the Midwest. As to what Cabrillo would think, I can only guess, but perhaps something along the lines of: What odd looking structures, and so many, and so tall. And what are these strange rolling creatures they call automobiles?
