Description

I took this photo in the French Catalonian seaside village of Collioure, which is just a few kilometers from the Spanish border. The sun was low in the sky BEHIND me (shortly before sunset) & this picture was taken facing east, away from the sun. I have no idea what could have caused these huge rays of light that shot up into the sky. It lasted for about about 45 minutes or so, then just faded out. There's probably a simple explanation that I'm just not aware of - can anyone enlighten me?

Well, I don't have an answer as to what I could be, but it surely is a beautiful picture. I'll have to check back to see if anyone knows what caused it!

Great capture and composition. I really like the almost abstract effect you've achieved. Nice greetings for you.

It's nature mate created by The Great Almighty...!!! You've captured a nice shot... but I think this can be seen only for seconds... It's due to the diffraction of light.

I don't know exactly what caused this but it sure is incredible. Must've been amazing to witness. Great shot!
