Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

My first trip to Florida in 1964 I saw coconuts for the first time. We had palms in the area I lived in, but I'd never seen coconuts on any. I was so excited I begged my mom to let me carry two back on the Greyhound bus so I could plant them and grow my own coconut palms. Ya know what? The are HEAVY! LOL Great memory shot for me!

I ate 'em straight off the trees in Vietnam. Nothing better than a cool drink right out of the nut on a hot day.

In most of the tourist locations they cut them down long before they could fall to avoid wiping out their tourist trade. These have a ways to go before they're ripe, but there's nothing quite like fresh coconut. Coconut syrup (almost impossible to find here) is a great treat. I bring some back with every trip to Hawaii, but back in the late 60s we used to be able to get a gallon tin shipped to us from Stewarts Pharmacy in Waikiki. Very nice shot!

There are so many up there. When I think of coconuts, first the line "you put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up" and then the movie "Father Goose" come to mind. Beautiful capture!
