Description
Yesterday’s post ‘Moon’ was taken on the same night I last photographed a Shuttle launch. Since I had pictures of the Shuttle from three miles away at all times of the day I decided to capture this launch from the Bennett Causeway, ten miles away. The results were ‘interesting’.
Whenever I look at this picture I hear ‘The Ride of the Valkyrie’ by Richard Wagner.

"Interesting" just won't quite do. Absolutely brilliant display of reds and gold. Wonderful shapes and graduations of color! I love how the dark red lingers in the black edges. In the midst of all that beauty, streaks the shuttle! And yes, most definitely, the right musical accompaniment. Excellent capture!

Lovely plume of launch flame pictured emanating from the orbiter as it soars into the heavens! I like the lighting effects reflected on the smoke.

Lol,‘The Ride of the Valkyrie' always reminds me of the Might Mouse theme song. I guess they both work with this photo. This is an amazing shot. The shuttle looks so small compared to the immensity of those clouds it's flying into. Then when you think what is beyond those clouds. Incredible they ever come back. Wonderful shot.

As a Wagner-lover of the Opera world, I know exactly what you are talking about ... this is just so powerful and dramatic in sight and sound (!) you see, I've also got a vivid imagination; it must have been the chance of a lifetime, thanks for pointing this out to me Mark, BB
