Description

The original house at Dixter,Northiam in East Sussex, which dates from the mid 15th century, was acquired by a businessman named Nathamiel Lloyed in 1909. he had a 16th century house in a similar style moved from Kent and the two were combined with new work by Edwin Lutyens to create a much larger house, which was rechristened Great Dixter. It is a romantic recreation of a medieval manor house, complete with great hall, parour, solar and yeoman's hall.

Wonderful! Old buildings have such history deeply embedded in their stonework. Strange to think of these two being knitted together. If they are haunted, what must the ghost be thinking. Beautiful building and capture!

Fascinating place! I think England is blessed with hundreds of beautiful old historical houses and this is a prime example. Yet another on my list of 'to do'!! Lovely time of year to take a photo of it as the garden shows. Very nice capture.
