Description

Set on the coast of Normandy, in 1067 the Monastery on Mont-Saint- Michel gave its support to Duke William of Normandy in his claim to the English throne. It was rewarded with lands on the other side of the channel including a small island located at west Cornwall which modelled after the Mount became a Norman Priory named St. Michael's Mount of Penzance. I scand this picture from an old holiday snap of about 10 years ago (another one from the archives).

Amazing. It looks like the set from movie! Hard for us in the new world to image that such ancient castles really exist in the real world. Beautiful architecture and a wonderful shot.

That is huge! The townspeople must have felt like ants, living in the shadow of that! Was there construction going on at the top? The thought of working up there sends my heart down into my toes. Beautiful image! I would love to visit there! Thanks!

Good shot of a fascinating place. (Shame about the scaffolding) We've visited here a few times and a night time shot of this luminated town is magical! Well captured.
