Description

Work In Progress -- Cerberus Defense Platform A mobile space station and fighter launch platform, these gun-laden structures are designed to defend Protectorate stronghold worlds. Probably one of my more ambitious designs. I don't think I'm through detailing it yet. I'm envisioning it as a cross between a space station and a battlecruiser. It can cruise around a planet and even go FTL, but lacks a lot of the things necessary to be a truly independent ship. But it needs to be mobile in order to truly protect a planet, so enemy ships don't just go around it. Base model created in DOGA-L3, touch up and detailing in Carrara.

Very cool! Nice modeling work. Say, if it's a Cerberus, does it have three heads?

Well it is a truly cool design. Without texturing, it seems rather a small thing, but I suspect with texturing it would become a far larger looking enterprise! For example, what look like jet exhaust vents probably will be large openings for launching and returning those fighters! Tomorrow, as you know, it is Thanksgiving. Been thinking a lot lately about how thankful I am to have the opportunity to have you for a cyber-friend. I get a lot of enjoyment out of your renders and writings--not to mention a lot of inspiration for doing my own stuff. So thanks, my friend, for being part of my life.

Great looking model. I have been doing research on the problems of near light speed travel and the impact that has on things like sensor and combat systems - the perception of time of events and when they are perceived. The limitation that information does travel at the speed of light - even if there are engines that can move a craft FTL. How to defend or attack is almost a paradox.
