Much better. This way there is a sense of foreboding and mystery and perhaps some danger that they must face. The other cover seemed very bright and cheery, and considering what the reputation of shape-shifters is like, that goes against the whole concept. As a reader of a lot of fantasy, Science Fiction, Mystery and Horror, I would probably pick this cover over the other, especially if side by side.
