Description
"...find out what you already know, and you'll see the way to fly." - Johnathon Livingstone Seagull
She stands at the brink of despair.
The path before her is dark. Cold air washes over her. She trembles, praying that it will quell the fire that rages inside her heart.
Fell hands reach out of the darkness, beckoning her, urging her deeper into the cold. She takes a few more steps down the path. Numbness overwhelms her. For a time, the fire inside her heart dies down. She is glad to be rid of it. She is glad to be rid of the pain.
But the numbness quickly fades. And soon, the cruel hands beckon her once more.
For the dark path is never ending.
She feels something at her back. A warmth. It reminds her of times gone by. Times when her heart was glad. She turns her head, and blinks as the bright light stings her eyes.
The sunlight.
And then she sees them: the figures in the distance behind her, their shapes bathed in sunlight. They call out to her. Calling her name. And she realises they have been calling her all along.
She recognises them. Family, friends. People she loves. People she used to love. People she never even knew cared.
One of the figures reaches out to her, desperate to lead her back to the sunlight. But she pulls away. She takes another step down the path.
The figures behind her fall to their knees in desperation. But they do not leave. They do not stop calling her name.
They will never stop calling.
It is never too late to turn back to the sunlight.
We'll be there, waiting to show you the way.
Notes:
For my friend, who has lost her way.
