Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

And yet another shot of Mark in the park. I just finished commenting on Tara's upload of Mark in the Park (shades of the good Doctor) have a lark in the park with Mark!

Good to see you Mark.... Aloha

WOW! I like this a lot. You and Tara both posted similar shots and that's a hoot! You both captured Mark's easy friendliness and perpetual sense of wonder...that's always a good thing to experience and I get to experience it again in this photo. Black and white works so perfectly too...it brings out details that sometimes get lost in color...and well, needless to say, I love this shot!

He looks like a real character!

A great portrait! Wonderful, and most sincere smile... it's certainly contagious! :)

OH WOW! What do I see? Our dear friend Mark at his best. A smile that could lighten up a coal mine. Marilyn this is a gorgeous portrait.

WOW! I like this a lot. I saw it over Chip's shoulder as he was typing something. It's scary when he types. He does something insane like 80+ words per minute. I remember the day this picture was taken. There was Persian food involved and everybody was having such a great time. This picture really captures that because that IS exactly how Mark smiles and looks a little bit playful just as the camera shutter clicks. Here, he looks a little bit like a famous director.

I said on Tara's pic that he looked mischievous, but here he looks almost a little shy! Great pic! How wierd that you both chose black and white.

Oh my!! How cool is this, that you and Tara both post incredible shots of this most amazing man, simultaneously? I love that smile of his, so warm and sincere. I think what impressed me most about Mark was the realization that here was someone who obviously is incredibly knowledgeable, and yet has this incessant yearning to learn so much more about everything! My time with you all on Saturday was the highlight of my summer, it became a day I wanted to just go on forever. I am so grateful for that!

Hey I know that man. This is a really great portrait of him. Very cool.

it is so amazing to see myself through your eyes, Marilyn, it's just the best; it captures me happy but also playful, like I'm about to make one of my idiotic jokes (which you've always been very kind & patient with, lol). But you also caught peace in this shot, which is such a treat to see through your amazing eyes. I'm so touched that you did this: You caught parts of me that I don't even know that well, but which I look at & think: That's me! I mean, that's really me! (I'm not used to seeing myself on the web, not to mention in the gallery of two artists who I love!) And maybe you did catch a little shyness, as Andrea says, I can see that; I mean this is a complex shot. Well I just got a camera, as you know, and when I finally get the courage to photograph a human being, I hope I can do 100th as well as this. (I'm having enough trouble with my window!) (You need blurs? I got blurs. I plan to set back photography 200 years!) This is a beautiful shot, not because it's me but because it's from the reflective and inward side of you, which you've gifted to me. Tons of thanks Marilyn, and maybe one day I'll be able to do the same for you. I'm really, really touched. (and thanks to the wonderful comments above: I'm very touched that half of these wonderful people even remember me & how I look! Thanks to them too, for their very kind words.)

OMG, so that's Mark, in all his glory! I never would have guessed it, and happy you took this shot to reveal him to the world, Maz! Excellent portrait, and fit for framing. He could do with a trim, though.
