Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Neat POV!!

Fascinating. I like the fun things glass blocks do to people and things on "the far side". We'll have to ask Tara where her counterpart to this photo is... Guys like me with a military background think of something different when we hear "wall of fame" or a bit worse, an "I love me wall". As a person goes through a 20-30 year military career, he/she accumulates award certificates, promotion certificates, letters praising us for some task, ribbons, medals, plaques from former units given when we depart, fancy swords, photos with VIPs, and on and on... Lots of these things get framed. Usually they wind up in a closet, or in a box in storage, but at some point many will decorate a wall somewhere in their home with all this memorabilia. Hence...an "I love me wall". It is good for one's self-esteem if you are into that sort of thing:-)))

Oooh, this is fun to look at. Glass block always presents such possibilities for funness and even eerieness and at times, just plain, good old fashioned loopy stuff. I love the subtle distortions of glass block, and seeing Mark and Tara there just adds so much more to this, especially since it's weirdly inter-dimensional, like they're there only "there" isn't really where you think it is. This is great. It's fun!

I wonder if this is the Museum of Contemporary Art. It might be, but I'm not sure. And about the glass blocks. Are they an installation or a part of the building? They're mysterious and cryptic, and it's really cool to see Tara and Mark back there. It's like you're looking at them through giant, transparent Legos for grownups.

Just took a look at Tara's version this is as good but the lighting makes it look so different.
