Description

Came down with a nasty bug Saturday. Just getting through the day with the kids leaves me sapped for strength. If I am not that coherent in my descriptions I apologize it hurts my head just looking at this screen. A brief description of the background. In the far distance is the Pink Cliffs, home of Bryce Canyon NP. The Grey and White Cliffs follow as the elevation drops. This wilderness finds us at the brink of the Vermilion cliffs as geological cross sections go. The Mesa here is mostly Navajo Sandstone with a thin layer of Temple Cap Sandstone. The Temple Cap Sandstone can be seen on the tops of the Navajo Sandstone Tepees. This formation of Tepees is huge, on the order of bigger than a football field huge! The North quarter of this group of Tepees is exposed directly west. The weather comes from that direction and the marvel that has taken place is a giant natural amphitheater. Inside the cross bedding of the sandstone and its diverse colors is nothing short of stunning. Actually the formation itself as a whole is amazing. This is a wide angle lens shot, nice for the vast feel, not so nice for the detail. Forgot to mention this formation of Tepees runs north to south, photo taken at it's south end. Showing this outer image before the actual amphitheater to give a better feel of the surroundings. One more note: if new to this series, it began on July 26th, if so inclined to hit the gallery Thanks for your patience and for the comments and favs on the last post.

I'm like a kid in a candy store! I do so enjoy these shots of yours. Excellent color, texture and detail. Beautiful capture! I looked ahead and did not see you say you were over your bug. I hope it has eased if it's not yet gone.
