Description

This is in a famous building Mark showed us somewhere in Chicago. By that time my brain was full, and I was just wandering around saying, "oooohh ... pretty!" a lot. For those of you who wonder why I didn't crop out the glass door (I, who crop out EVERYthing!) ... I did, and then put it back in again. The image required it be there. The light on the door looked weird without being able to see the light source.

That is a beautiful door, and the light is really nice... it's good you kept in that glass door.

What a door! The detail and workmanship looks Polish. Those guys know how to work a chisel! Wonderful light and details, and the color is amazing! This is one of my favorite door pictures ever! You know...we have to go to Prague and wander around there...Prague is a city of doors! There's just something about that part of the world and...well...doors...It's no wonder that Prague (Praha in Czech) means "threshold." It's even better that this is in Chicago. It means I don't have to jump into an airplane to go see it myself. This is wonderful!!!

I am with mbz2662...the glass door does need to be there. Isn't this interesting. See, if somebody had written a crop rule, you'd have had to throw it out in this case anyway. The main subject is really something...looks like it is adorned with small lion heads. Let's ask Mark what this building is sometime... Composition is just right...how else could you show this very tall and narrow door?

Oooee - look at the intricate woodwork on that door! Superb craftmanship indeed! I wonder how long it took to make! Fantastic image Tara and a great idea to keep the light source. I agree - it would have looked odd without it! :)

Excellent choice. Wonderful capture. You got doors, I got a dooe. In fact I posted this evening so you could see it. A true example of American excess. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1985583

Top class craftmanship both on the part of the doormaker and the photographer! It is perfect! I fiddled about for ages cropping and uncropping a pic...decisions, decisions! My brain gets full far too easily, that's why I made so many doodles at lectures and meetings.

OH yes, you were right to keep the glass door in the shot, Tara. You have an excellent feeling of what is needed to make it perfect. And this is a perfect shot. Wonderful door and well seen.

I'm glad you decided to keep this composition - the glass door explains the lighting and also adds contrast - modern day utility vs elegance of the past. Very nice work.

There are few things as satisfying to me as the grain in a richly finished piece of wood. Stunning shot.
