Description

Australian actor Paul Hogan became well known playing an outback character named Crocodile Dundee. At one point in the second Dundee movie street thugs accost him. One brandishes a knife. Hogan smiles and says, "You cawl thet a knoyf?" He then pulls out a twelve-inch Bowie knife, looks at it lovingly and continues, "Naaow thet's a knoyf!" Tara (AuntiTK) likes taking pictures of architecture especially the entrances to buildings. My favorite is

here. Many are quite nice but, with respect, this one is an entrance! I hasten to add, I didn't say it was tastful. I just said, this is an entrance.

Most decidedly an entrance! The very epitome of ostentation. No offense to William Randolph Hearst and Julia Morgan, but I like Tara's better. Excellent shot though. Capital capture of all the gaudy detail.

OMG!! That is certainly ornamentation, no doubt about it! The thing I like best about this is the iron gate. It's elegant in its design, and not too froofie. Thanks for sharing this, and thanks for the plug! :)

Wow, ornate in a overly bizarre sort of way at this entrance, but something to be expected from the eccentric Mrs Hearst. Despite that, a lot of imagination and effort went into the project. And, 90% of the comments I get from Tara apply only to my architectural uploads. The other 10% to my flowers.

That is a "grand" entrance! Well seen, caught and shared. Door wars - I'll have to think about that. Dana

Now that is decadent, and kind of funny that I've been shopping for a front door. Not that I'm wanting anythying like this...lol. The guard on the left looks like he wants to draw his weapon and say to Dundee, "Now that's a knife". :~)

A bit intimidating for his guests too I'm sure. Some lucky stonemasons had lots of work with this. The artistry is really fine, just too much all in one place. Wonderful details in your shot, which I appreciate very much.
