Description

Several years ago I found myself a bit limited on funds as the holidays came up, but only a year before had purchased a 13" x 19" capable inkjet printer and a sizable amount of ink for it (I was experimenting with doing freelance design work at the time) so I decided the best way to "punch up" my very unexciting gifts would be to make my own wrapping paper. It was such a huge hit with my family that they've looked forward to me doing it every year since. Not that I'm complaining, it's fun! So, this is one of my 4 main ideas for this year, by no means finalized, but closing in on what I'd like to make this time around. The design is entirely my own, using pretty much the same kinds of techniques I use to make custom materials for surfacing the space ships in my Bryce renders. The geometric patterns started out in Adobe Illustrator, and were brought into Photoshop as a vector object and laid over other layers. I used a mix of the random-clouds, noise, sprayed, and such filters, and had some layers set to overlay, some to multiply, etc. In all there's 6 different layers in this. Thanks for taking a look everyone, I may post the final version(s) if folks are interested enough in them. Have a great weekend! Oh, critiques and such are highly encouraged. How would you like this as a wrapping paper? What would you change, and/or don't like about this? I'm always open to new ideas and suggestions for these.

my printer is so expensive for ink, I only use it for b/w and it keeps arguing that the inks are running low.really a nice pattern for sure

Oh, this rocks! I particularly like that it has some tangential connection to your spacecraft textures! THAT just makes it all the more special. Great design. It looks almost like a map as well...or a really intricate maze.
