Description

At my brother's 50th birthday party last month, I shot several portraits in less than ideal lighting conditions. (Hand held, low light, flash or no flash, loads of people standing around.) I chose three of them to work up in very different styles. Here's the first ... this is Michael, in almost-but-not-quite-standard black and white.

Looks good to me. I better get reading up on portraiture. I realize I don't know enough about it to make a semi-intelligent comment:-) What lighting did you use? Flash, no-flash?

Fifty? Why he's just a kid! Wonderful portrait, really shows character. Excellent result for low light and crowded room.

Good job Tara. The best way to deal with WB is to have a great black and white. I like the gentle noise here.

Excellent. He hasn't 'posed' which is great. I hate when you point a camera and they notice and do something other.
