Description

Foto scattata al mattino all’interno del Parco Naturale dell’Orecchiella in Garfagnana, A large area of protected forests of beech, chestnut and pine trees, populated by wild animals The park lies on the Apennines dell'Orecchiella Garfagnana and lies between the towns of Piazza al Serchio, San Romano, Silla and Villa Basilica. This is an area protected by the State Forestry composed of massive forests of beech, chestnut and fir trees still populated by many species of wildlife such as the Apennine wolf, deer, mouflon sheep, bears and wild boars. The skies are dominated by raptors such as hawks and eagles. Nature Park dell'Orecchiella is divided into three nature reserves: "the Orecchiella", "Pania of the Corfino" and "Red Blade", all managed by the Forest Service. The landscape is a broad plateau dominated by the massive limestone of the Pania of Corfino, a territory of more than 5 thousand hectares that extends from 600 meters to 2045 meters, where nature reigns supreme, but where there are accommodation facilities and educational for many visitors. The Visitor Center of the State Forestry, structured on three floors, is an essential reference point for the Park (within which there is also the Botanical Gardens). The Visitor Center, in addition to reception services, houses the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of prey. The Nature Museum has dioramas of ungulates in dynamic situations and three-dimensional path of panels that illustrate the cycle of traditional natural elements (air, water, earth, fire). The Museum of Prey shows life-size reproduction of an eagle's nest, panel on diurnal and nocturnal raptors and display cases with stuffed specimens. The Garden of mountain presents the visitor many flowers and plants typical of mountain environments, in a vibrant explosion of colors. Over an area of about one hectare grass species are annual or perennial, habitat trees and shrubs typical of the Apennines, which, with their shapes and colors help to create picturesque spots in this protected area.
