Description

I have been trying to catch an egret in flight for 9 years. This is my best shot so far. Not my best. Casmerodius albus: the Great White Egret is 39 inches (99cm) long, with a 51 inches (130cm) wingspan. Taken October 26th, at Green Cay Wetlands, west of Delray Beach, Florida. Thanks for stopping by, taking a peak and for all your previous comments. Dana

Fantastic shot! I know how hard it is to catch a bird in flight, I've got some great blurred images of various birds in my files....;)

Wow, it's a wonderful shot, Dana! I haven't managed any in-flight shots yet, I'm just way too slow on the draw.

I've been working on pelicans and herons in flight for some time. They are in this area so I can usually attempt 2 or 3 days during the year for flight shots but so far, they are quicker and smarter than I am and they have eluded my focus for some time. This is a very good shot and an encouraging one. Very lovely.

The sharp white of the egret against the grey of the background makes for a really cool composition!
