The Blue bird has just whispered the news to the mouse that someone's birthday is coming up. the mouse is so excited to hear this news.

to let you know, I've discovered why I was not getting my reflections, it seems that I need to do the renders with raytrace and not deep shadow map... of course then I'd have to wait almost forever to complete a render on this machine - so any reflection work is going to wait until I get my new machine in hopefully no more than 28 days.
Oh and this image was rendered with raytracing instead of deep shadow mapping - took somewhere about 7 hours or so. I may redo this and use deep shadow mapping and time it then (any bets that it will take less time?)

hey?! is dat the li bird dat goes round telling stuff? i always wonder what kind of bird it was; great job on the scene! and if i were a betting sort, i'd put my money on shadow mapping being a faster render.

Yeah. Probably take about 45 mins. At about that size, on my machine with deep shadow map, takes normally about 2-4 minutes. That's on my multi threaded work station running 4 cpus with 16 gigs of ram. Now, since you are getting a new machine, I must assume what you are running now would take longer. Lol. That would be an average on my smaller machine. Its cool, too. I like the little guys! ")

LOL... I'm not into long renders - YET...I'm sure there will come a time I want to make posters and really need to put some detail in it, but if the render lasts more than a half hour - screw it - lol... Ray tracing is what they call it while rendering in poser too - for mirrors, glass, chrome, water, etc... Deep shadow, hmmmm, I'm gonna have to look for that - AND DISMANTLE IT - lol ...hell no, I don't wnat to wait 7 hours - lol You're more patient than me Mike

this is a fantastic work and i see the birdies are flying around in the galleries. very neat shadow- about raytracing i never used raytracing when i do a reflection i dont do shadows either on the scene. i have not tried to do both shadows/raytracing and reflections as of yet. could be a challenge . i might try on my 4-core machine -indeed i will work on this this afternoon.keeps me busy and i will tell and show you the outcome. thanks for the inspiration. i like when you throw bits into the universe if i may say so and i pick some of them up lol.

You could try adding your own shadows and reflections in your postwork program using your burn tool for shadows and a filter for your reflections i have only recently been able to use raytracing myself as my laptop was so slow and graphics not to clever i had same problem with shadows perhaps ask someone who is a genius with light and shadow to help you because its all to do with your settings i think lol this is really awesome though i love the bird !!

Wish I could help Mike but even though I have Daz on my computer I can't figure out how to use it so I stay with Bryce mostly and there it is easy as it gives it's own reflections which I can make greater or less...excellent image though, I think it's so cute!
