Description
The Boeing B-29 Super Fortress 'Fifi' on the ramp at Midland, Texas. 'Fifi' was delivered to the USAAF in Salina, Kansas on 31 July 1945. She spent time with a number of different commands but apparently never saw combat. She was transferred in 1956 to the U.S. Navy storage facility at China Lake, California.
In 1971 she was acquired by the Confederate Air Force and flown to Harlingen, Texas, the CAF's home base at the time. The Confederate Air Force, now called Commemorative Air Force, is now located at Midland, Texas. 'Fifi' is currently the only flyable B-29.
This picture was taken in September 1998 and later scanned.
