The 4 horses who bring us... well...
What would December (and the 11 other months) be without Beer...
(windows of the buildings that are gone, are not subject to vandalism. These windows have been taken to a "factory", so all windows of that building can be -in 2010- replaced by copies that are exactly the same.. Renovation)
and "De Plaats". It is a nice little square called "The Place". It is the oldest square in town.. older than the city of The Hague itself (1248AD). This square belonged to a castle that stood here from 1097 till 1640AD. Now the Plaats is surrounded by buildings from 1640 till 1915. Some are in Renaissance, others in Neo-styles, Art Nouveau, Secession, and "Um1800Bewegung". A mix that matches. The streetlights are the 1860AD models that were once made in The Hague.. Bars still have chairs outside.. even though it is minus 5 in the early evening (celcius that is, 23 Fh).. they are for those who smoke.. as it is no longer allowed inside.

a long time since i have been to the hague-in the late 60s when living in amsterdam (hippie-lol)i was very often in the hague,rotterdam and haarlem.nice people the dutch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both are wonderful captures! The horses are beautiful, certainly hope the kegs are not empty. The horses are pulling a precious cargo, grins. "De Plaats" is beautiful. I love that they have left chairs and tables outside, even smokers deserve a place to smoke, but if they sit out here, they will catch pneumonia, and then they won't have to sit outside as they won't be able to smoke anyway! The lighting here is beautiful, gives such a lovely glow to everything.
