Description

Wow things are really ramping up here for the Holidays. I haven't been able to get on since the 18th, and then I had about an hour to try to play catch up. There is just so much to do to try to make this holiday great here. The set backs of August, September, and October have really dampened the season. I am trying to pull off a nice holiday anyway. I helped out a friend with her business so I could pull off some gifts for under the tree and make cookies. I know I will get some pictures of all of that. Bargain shopping has been the name of the game and now I think I totally understand why some of the people standing in lines to get into the stores. I heard a lot of the same types of situations as what we faced this year. At that point, while shopping, we all, including Dave's mom, kind of built temporary bonds and while we were looking for our stuff we would glance for theirs too and vice versa. Needless to say the shopping endeavor is over and the rest of the preparations need to be make. I don't know if I will have much time on in the next few days. I hope I can sneak some time in here and there. You have no idea how tempting it was to stop what I was doing this weekend and bring up the computer to go on. I want to wish all of you the most wonderful and joyuos holiday season. This collage is for you. The background was made with a botched shot of the Christmas tree. On the top is my crystal tree candle holder, next to that my favorite old time Santa, then my mosaic hurricane with a tea-light tree and my crystal angel candle holder. I love lights and candle light which inspired the contents of this collage. Much love and peace, Cheri

Wonderful use of a variety of photos, and botched photos are the best for setting the mood with a background. Wonderful, and imaginative.

This is a wonderful collage, Cheri...and it's evoking a lot of the season that I thought was lost. I'm feeling a bit pinched and weird, but seeing that little bearded guy reminded me of Ded Moroz, "Father Frost" in Russian. I just received holiday greetings from Russian (and only half of those greetings were in English) so seeing Father Frost really brings some feelings home for me. I'm glad to see this and I'm glad we had the chance to meet in person...the first time out of many! This is gorgeous work, and I'm glad I saw it!

I've learned not to dump botched shots, they always come in handy for something! You make excellent use of them. I like how it's the background for the montage, it's so Christmassy! Wonderful shots of favorite things, makes it all so much more special. Sometimes I think that Christmas when times are tough are so much better then the ones when everything is going well. Everyone is so much more appreciative, and so much closer and so much more helpful. Hope your Christmas was Fabulous despite the hard times. I know it was because you have the kind of spirit that makes it so.

Cheri, I'm finally returning to comments today, and I'll be doing it for the next few. Right now I'm just doing one per gallery so I can say Happy New Year and hope everyone will know I've not forgotten them. I'll see more of your work after the 1st...But for now, I picked this because it feels like something you do so well: Make beauty out of so many different things---even a 'botched' tree shot! (I'm just starting to photograph: You want botches? I got botches. I'll pay you to take them off my hands!) Not only is each shot filled with light & beauty, but they're of such beautiful things, pieces of your life. You do these montages very well, Cheri, it's not an easy art & you seem wholly at home with them. A beautiful holiday montage. I wish you & Dave & all those you love a wonderful New Year, and hope your Christmas was beautiful too. And I hope your health & spirit soar next year, to make up for the battles & everything else from this year. I'll be back, but I wanted to send you my very best now. Great New Year to you both, and I wish you gobs of inspiration!
