Description

Long ago, the worlds of Man established the Terminus Line, the boundary between the fertile worlds of the Terran Protectorate, and the ancient, dark worlds of the Sea of Dead Stars. The law was simple: Establish no colony beyond the Line. And expect no assistance if you cross the Line. While that solved the problem of men crossing the Line, it did not solve the problem of the....things...from the Sea of Dead Stars venturing into the worlds of man. Ancient, utterly alien, and often horrifically destructive, those who live Beyond the Line recognize no boundaries or sovereignty of man. So it was that the Ares-Draconis Clan, the most militant sect of humanity, established the Colonies of the Line. Hardened fortress worlds manned by volunteers who dedicate their lives to one purpose: That monsters remain the stuff of fairy tales. They are a hard people, trained to be unflinching in the face of horror or death. But, through the years, they have become a changed people. Out beyond where most others venture, fighting foes whose very form could drive lesser men insane, they have become less and less human the more the have fought to protect humanity....and in a bitter irony, their success at keeping the darkness at bay has caused many humans to fear them more than they fear the nameless horrors they protect us from. The disdain of their fellow man has not gone unnoticed by Those Who Stand the Line. Enjoy, and let me know what you think

This is a superb render with excellent focus on the main character while the background is still complex enough to enhance the scene. Nicely done.
