Description

Just east of the town of Forks is the Quileute Indian Reservation which was formed after the signing of the Quinault Treaty in 1855. The reservation's main population center is the community of La Push. According to the ‘Twilight’ books and movies, no vampires are allowed on reservation land. There apparently are no such restrictions on the resident wherewolves who are said to hold their meetings there. In order to get to the beach at La Push you must walk through a dark and damp forest and then descend some seventy-five steps. You are met with a rugged coastline and a sometimes violent sea. For the record it should be noted that my friend Gabriel is a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves and, at thirty-three, probably in the best shape of his life. His father, who came with us, is seventy. After our trip Gabriel canceled the next day’s activities stating that the trip to La Push had taken a lot out of him. His father was ready to rock and roll. Old guys rule!

Beautiful image! Wonderful detail in the driftwood in the foreground. And it looks like a little natural bridge in the distance. Very nicely done!

Beautiful coastline! Great POV, I like the driftwood strewn about and those menacing clouds. I hope you post more shots of your trip, I'm really enjoying it. Thanks.

very spectacular and even menacing vista (because of the slight tilt, probably)

your composition is wonderful, not only for the tilt but for the amount of land you allow at bottom, which kind of frames the tilted chunk of water and island, etc. Breaking the mold...And the water & land lines converged in solid land on the right, all angles meeting in the corner. (A fine composition choice.) And that big branch/trunk on the bottom seems to have come out to greet the island in the water. A fascinating view, beautifully seen, and dark & moody too. Almost out of a dream...
