On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

From this angle, it's a raptor mantling its prey.

I just LOVE that shiny floor! If you ever visit your gallery one day and all the shiny floor bits are gone, you'll know where to look! LOL! Now isn't this one of those planes that's supposed to be invisible? Ummm ... I can see it. :P

Great capture, bill. The lighting and shadowy atmosphere add to the spooky, mysterious nature of the Spirit.

wow--looks like some kind of very strange UFO (guess that's redundant, isn't it?? lol)

I thought it was a UFO as well, or a giant mantra ray (hope thats right)!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! This makes me think of Roswell...these babies always look like your standard 1950s fare UFO when seen from the front. I love these aircraft, despite the fact that they're basically death machines. Ah, but they're gorgeous! I want one. I'd paint racing stripes on it, and a woodlouse spitting out lightening bolts. Wonderful work, especially with the cold sort of X-Files kind of look. The problem with the X-Files is the series never gained as much as this single picture. It's elegant, a bit sinister, and well...it tells its own stories, none of which concern shadowy syndicates in cahoots with aliens colonizing the earth and using humans as lab experiments. Hmmm...funny how the mind wanders when artwork reveals all sorts of "realities" to perceive and think about. This is great work. It puts me in the Christmas mood, as this looks precisely like the kind of toy I'd want to find under my Christmas tree...but ah...it's much larger (and more stealthy) than a Christmas tree. Merry Christmas to you, and I look forward to seeing the photographic results of your happy new year as well!

Phenomenal capture of the Spirit, looking stealthlike in that gigantic darkened hangar, Bill. I also like the perspective of the overhead lights.

The proportions of the plane in this building make for a wonderfully impressive capture.

An absolutely amazing-looking aircraft , even better zoomed-in, still better the real-life version...lucky you, to get that close ! It reminds me a little of a Manta Ray, (that killed Steve Irwin), definitely not to be messed around with...a killer machine; on the other hand a very smooth and elegant lady...(they used to give them female names, right ?) and a great POV, to put us into the picture. Wishing you all the best for the NEW YEAR 2010 Cheers BB
