happy birthday, helle!
(no i did not remember it by myself, i had help!)
finding a fitting picture was not easy, but then, you love nature, so i decided to send you a picture of a path in what we call the 'griend' - i could nowhere find a translation. it is a piece of wetland, outside the dyke, where willows were planted. these were kept very short and the branches were cut every year. they made wicker baskets from that.
there are also willows that are cut off at about 2 meters, the branches from these were cut every 5 years for thicker wood. these are called 'knotwilgen' they get very crooked, but can become very old - the older the more crooked and more beautiful.
this path has young 'knotwilgen' along it - grienden are very beautiful and silent places and nature at it's most beautiful perhaps.
grienden are restored nowadays, for which i am grateful.

OHHH! How beautiful. I like this image alot. It looks almost like pointilisme. And you are right I love nature alot and paths like this are so inviting :-) I am not quite sure of what you meant by griend, but we have "stynede popler" "pollarded trees" and we have old wetlands near dikes not far away from here. a very delicate vision of grienden, and the promenade-like row of trees along it, which you've treated a little like pointillism, yes, and a little like a dream, and a little like a study of light, form & color. Complex, but really very simple. And it's beautiful. And very right for our dear Helle, who deserves all the beauty & peace in the world. The composition is nice too, with the light coming in somewhere around center; and the profusion of path and trees moving up & down from there. Very sensitively done, Koosie. But then that's no surprise to anyone...A sensitive vision for a wonderful friend & artist. Happy Birthday Helle, even if I'm way late!!!
