Description

You've probably seen images based on the original plate for this one before, as it was used as the starting point to a Matte Painting challenge on CGTalk a couple of years ago. I took a stab at it then but I had neither the skill or the patience to see it through (Believe me, my attempts were pretty pitiful). I was lucky enough to receive a couple of CG art books from 3D Total for Christmas, and one of the walkthroughs by David Edwards used the original image of the Natural History Museum in London, which I still had on my hard drive. So I thought, what the hell, let's give it another go and see if I've actually learn't anything in the last two years. The original brief was to clean up the image (Lots of people, modern museum stuff, dinosaur bones etc) and extend it. This is the result after a lot of work. It's still a bit rough in places, especially at full resolution (8K pixels, 135 meg bitmap), but I'm quite pleased with it. Thanks for looking, and I hope you like it...Ian Oh, and a happy 2010 to everyone...
