Description

Once again it's my pleasure to celebrate our photographic friend, Harry (aka goodoleboy)! Happy Birthday Harry! I don't do cars (I don't even know their names!) I just know how to drive 'm, and I don't do that very often either! But for you, Harry? I broke the rules... This is my father's car & I took 18 million shots of the little bugger, then cropped & talked to them & pleaded & cajoled them, and came up with the first car-montage of my life! Every shot's a surface of that car. And they're all natural except the second-to-the-last: It was filtered. (Sorry: I'm a painter. A day without filters is a bad day...) Harry, I don't do montages like you, but at least I gave you cars! For your humor & your play & constant exploration & finding life in everything around you & your poignant sequences of human beings & flowers & animals, and so many other things that you've given us each day, I thank you once again. I wish you a great birthday & many, many more in the best of health & happiness. And a wonderful New Year too, our friend! Have a great one!
* * * * * * As many of you see, I've returned to commenting at last. I'll complete it over the next few days. Have a great New Year, all and I hope it was a fine Christmas! Mark

Wow Mark! Lovely dedication for your friend! The reflections that you have captured here are simply amazing! I love the grill in the fourth image, the Pov makes an excellent abstract and the reflections to me make it a separate and very beautifully adorned gift! Great collage:-)(cars aren't my thing either, lol) Happy Birthday wishes to your friend!

OMG Mark!!!!! I am just stunned and lost my jaw somewhere. Nobody would ever believe me, if I told them, that it is isnt more than about a month ago, since you got your first digital camera. You shoot like you were born with the camera in your hands. You got the reflections and colors so fantastic. If it wasnt because I already have learned, that everything you touch, will be a succes, I wouldnt believe my eyes. But I know better :-) I am SO delighted. And ofcause you also know, which dedication is making Harry most happy. :-) Happy Birthday Harry. :-D

A grand montage. I like how you have incorporated nature and metal...very nice contrast. But then isn't that what cars ultimate do for us, take us out into nature. I'm sure your friend Harry will love this. CC

The photographer inside you keeps stepping up now, making ever more cool images. He's a persistent fellow and if you give him an inch, I guarentee you he'll take a mile:-))) Yay for the photographer! Everything is so shiny and got to love the clouds reflecting in the chrome. And HB to Harry...he's the man:)

What I like about most about cars is that they get us to where we're going, and this car definitely had the same effect in a new and original way by inspiring a happy birthday to a friend and fellow artist. It's a lovely gift and a treat to see. I love all the shine and how each photo reflects different parts of the surrounding landscape. I always feel like cars develop their own personality (I give mine names), and this car has personality. I love the shot of the wheel and the reflection of wheels and the cozy parking place nestled into the tropics.

OMG, it's incredible, I know, but you have outphotographed me in the genre of automobiles and their external components! The reflections themselves are beyond nonpareil! So, what do I do, now that I have been relegated to the "has-been" bin? What an elegant and exquisite flow of car pictures, so clean and sharp and shiny and colorful and contrasted and masterfully composed. Plus, your following narrative is wonderful and poignant, as is your wont. I wonder, did you wash and polish this lovely auto prior to taking the pics? It is so sparkling. In any event, I thank you on this significant day from the bottom of my antiquated heart, my friend!

I don't "do" cars either, but I love the idea of capturing the reflective surfaces of cars - mobile movies echoing the environment flashing by, or resting comfortably with the parked cars... Excellent collage, Mark.

What a fabulous and amazing sight, you and cars??? But yes you would, because of your warmth toward people, colleagues, friends, family and everyone. You show your warmth in this kind gesture for Harry one of our wonderful, loved, big family here on Rendo, you gave him your warmth dear Mark along with your art, now what an amazing and generous birthday gift that was. ...se si fanno scorrere velocissimamente le immagini dall'alto verso il basso, sembra una corsa verso la casa del tuo amico, E' molto piacevole.5*:)

ah Mark, what a fantastic montage! I'm not a big fan of auto photos. But this, THIS, is marvelous. I love most the reflections. God love your Dad for keeping his car in such immaculate shape, so delightfully shiny it's a mirror of the neighborhood! The cropping of each image is fantastic, each has the perfect spot in the montage to give it all a flow, leading the eye nicely up and down. Each piece is a little work of art in itself. And then you add the beautiful dedi. Your words are art in and of themselves.

As I always do when I am looking at Harry's great auto-collages, I went looking for the photographer in the photos. First a wonderful shadow in the photo with the perfectly aligned white car in the fender. In the last picture, you've been sliced somewhat piecemeal, but the head and fingers peeping out above the grill are what caught my eye and imagination! Like someone sneaking a look, maybe a photo, over a fence. Beautiful reflections of flowers and trees! Excellent captures and collage! I'm not much into cars either. If they are reliable, have excellent air conditioning, and a good MP3 player, I'm happy. But I love Harry's collages, and his presence here at RR. This is perfect! Happy Birthday again, Harry! May it be again, and again and again ad infinitum.
