Description

I wanted to tell you about my personal connection to the Boeing 747. The Boeing 747, made its first flight on Feb. 9, 1969 at Paine Field in Everett, Washington. It was the largest commercial airliner, flying the farthest, and carrying the greatest number of passengers of any airliner until the advent of the newer Airbus models. My father was invited to be a passenger on one of its certification flights that year. These flights were made without the seats we are familiar with and the inside was basically hollow. My father came home absolutely amazed, raving about how big and impressive the plane was. Over forty years later I visited the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field in Washington. There it was, Boeing 747 #1. It never flew commercially and has been a museum piece for most of those forty years. What are the odds?

It must have felt very poignant to see it. Were you able to go inside? It is a strange sensation when you feel the presence of those who have been at a place before you, how much more so when there is a personal connection. Excellent capture! The overcast sky gives it an interesting moodiness.

I'm not a plane fan, but your personal story makes this very interesting.

I love how the light just hits the area around the doorway highlighting the "1", inviting you in and yet the stairs are on the other side. The story and the matching picture are in perfect harmony. Wonderful. Happy New Year Mark.

I remember when me mom took us to see the Queen Mary she came over from Denmark in 1948 on a different ship but it was just to show a part of what she experienced It was so big think that is why I like boats and the water better than I do planes this is cool wonderful capture warm hugs, Linda
