Description
On the way back from Forks we decided to take the auto ferry from Bremerton to Seattle. We stood on the freezing cold deck of the ship trying to get some pictures. The boat vibrated quite a bit and I had no tripod so the Seattle skyline came out looking like this. Rather surreal, don’t you think?

Very surreal. It looks rather like there could be a fire raging in Seatle. I like the twirly red tendrils. I probably would have been shivering to the point of not need the ships vibration. Terrific shot!

They look like fireworks in the form of Chinese dragons. Perfect selection for this day. :-) Happy New Year, Brother! & more .. Happy Tenth Anniversary!! Not too many folks still around from those early days of Ren'. Fewer still who joined on the first day of the new millennium. There's something pretty special about that .. a decade on. All the best for you going forward!! Terry

Fantastic capture.

Fun. Looks like Seattle was ringing in the New Year by way of fire works without even know it. Don't you love the surprise gifts your camera presents you with? Great shot.

I just started out in photography (I come from painting/drawing), so for me, blurs are pretty much it. One of my first outings, I got 320 blurs out of 320 shots. (Well, 321: One of them had my hand in front of the lens. It was masterful. I'm selling it for 9 million dollars at Sotheby's...) It wasn't encouraging. So trust me, it picks me up no end to know that experienced photographers like yourself get blurs--and, better, post them. I saw Andrea's version of this (loved it), and she said Lucinda did one too (I'll check it out after this): But the original is in fact a damned good abstract! I'm serious about that: It's got movement, great earthen sky tones, and the lights? They're dancing, they're flames! So while you probably won't post blurs again (for fear of being laughed out of the Photography Gallery), we 2D-ers say Bravo! Love the shot and the fact that you posted it.

I have LOTS of fotos just like this--never thought to actually post them--this really is great. I've been on one of those ferries, and know how hard it is to get a good shot.
