Description

Lost my connection last night, along with my upload. Found these instead... A typical Chicago storm, and a shot inside my window. (See what we Midwesterners put up with?)
* * * Have a fine Sunday! Mark (PS: A little zoom grain...sorry!)

WOW, Heavy and dramatic clouds indeed. You got very fine colors from the buildings. Very warm against the sky. I wonder what the black space means :-) AND I love the macro of the...silver Alladin Lamp ;-) It is gorgeous. How great to see a macro from you too :-D

As we roughly live in the same area of the country I can relate to the skies here Mark and feel right at home. It is a dark November day you can't help but feel a somber mood that has gripped the city during it. Sorry about your connection and hope things get sorted out soon for you. The storm we got hit with last night dumped a fresh batch of snow on us just as we were getting out of the last.

LOL, I know what midwesterners put up with first had. These are great though. I can relate to the losing connection.

What Helle sees as silver, I see as a Temmoku glaze! I COULD NOT live with all those tall buildings stealing the light from the street, I should wither and shrivel within days.

I am laughing because of the composition lesson you've shown here. Over time each of us have probably popped up a cloud image. I'll look to the sky while dog walking and be bowled over by the sight...take a picture and it is usually not half as good as I expected. But your cloud image is far better than average because you've included the top of the building, antennas and all. Just that little additional context really makes your top image special. The second image says Chicago and the third image says patina...that surface that is left on antique things that have been allowed to grow old gracefully. So good all the way around!!!

very dramatic shots, mark. i feel like andrea - big towns with high buildings that high (and uninteresting) makes me feel depressed. maybe, on a sunny day, it is not as bad.

This is wonderful, my dear! It's like you've brought the sky inside. You know how much I love the silver pot image ... thanks for posting it ... this is really excellent work! I love the way you've changed mediums (from 2D to Photography) and still remained true to your own vision.

Egad, those clouds look ominous hanging over the megatropolis of Chicago. And all we've had around here for the last week or so are bright and sunny upper 70s fahrenheit degree temperatures to contend with, with no rain in sight. Again, fine quasi silhouetting and lighting contrasts in these shots, if that was your original intention.

Gorgeous shots of the city. I like the sky especially in the second photo and how it looms above the buildings that loom below. The patina on the silver is gorgeous. They all go together wonderfully.

I wish I had gotten out near the lake (Erie) when the storms were moving in. The clouds were gorgeous piles of dramatic, um, stuff, it's the lake effect thing! I love sky shots, and these are just fantastic against the rooftops and skylines. The sun's light highlighting areas of them is so beautiful. The last one, the base of I'm guessing a lamp, is marvelous. The textures are to die for. I know it's probably just the way the paint of patina is corroding, but it looks like drops of silver spattered here and there .. I love it.

These are lovely images of the sky with the storm brewing. It is always amazing how parts of the sky can look so dark with the storm while next door the sun is shining. We live in such a beautiful world. I also love the texture and patina of the bottom capture. Lovely scenes.

Those sky shots are great. I like making them myself. Sometimes I think I have too many, but Chicago skies are so cool to try to catch because the clouds are always so busy. I really like your abstract macro too. Those colors and textures are great, and the light is sharp. WOW!!!
