Description

Just a return to my roots after several photographs: They're simple drawings, but for an artist, there's something very soothing about doing simple, basic objects. The bottle (at bottom) was like a quiet meditation: It took several hours, and like all such drawing, it made me very close to that bottle. Even the little vases were like little poems for me. Nothing big, just little "homages". That's the joy of simple drawing... First two: Ink. Third: Pencil, chalk & gouache. (The third is a reworking of a piece I drew for someone's home.: It's posted with her blessings.)
* * * Thanks for all your wonderful support: I never take it for granted, ever! Have a fine week Mark

It was this very kind of art that first drew me to your gallery. These simple drawings that are also so beautiful. I love the middle three; it's a pleasing arrangement. It would look very nice in my house!

AAAHH! I have always loved your drawings, Mark. In the first we have this graceful way you can draw a plant. I have always loved the way you do that. The second one is so full of sunshine and wonderful pots, that you know I love. And the bottle is made so soft and gentle, as I want to touch the smooth surface. I will always enjoy your drawings and paintings.

Marvelous work on this collage Mark and before I begin let me say that I think only you could bring out such beauty in what you called simple containers. Your point about needing to return to simple and more pure works from time to time really hit home and I see your journey paid off in these images. The detailing is superb in each one and as noted there seems to be a bit of poetry in them.

Light, shadow, texture...all qualities that you handle so well in your drawings and now, Whoopee, in your photos for us who hang out hats mostly in the photography gallery. Neat and simple upload Mark...thanks my friend:)

Simply beautiful Mark! I love the shimmer to the third image and just the simplicity of the images is very beautiful to me. For someone who can't draw I am always thrilled by someone who can...Bravo, so wonderful!

The way you handle light in your drawings is like a joyful dance for me. I find these (especially the bottle) to be compelling, engaging, and hard to leave. I keep thinking about that light, how in drawing it's actually NOTHING, as opposed to an interaction of light with the different surfaces it touches. The way you have to think in order to be able to draw like this ... it boggles my mind! These are little bits of gorgeousness, dear one, and it's wonderful to see them.

I know exactly how you feel when you draw like this! I go in to a state of 'flow': mind you, weeding does the same for me..mmm!

and i know as well how you feel about this, mark, and you can be so happy with these most wonderful drawings, so simple indeed, but it is so hard at times to find the right balance to make it really the way it needs to be for us. i love them all, these are so wonderful, you found the right way to make them look like this, in these 2 hours, for sure, in a perfect balance. i would marry that bottle, if i were a bottle, she is a beauty :)

Hi, Mark:-))I love your drawings. All of them. I see what you mean about "simply drawings" and "basic obj." they speak, and they are music too, or poems as you said!!look to the first,so much mouvement..and the bottle! i understand the peace you had while doing her ...like meditation! She is wonderfully done! All of them are a beauty!I love very much your work with ink...the way you use...like a strategy to achieve what you want, with your thin lines.

It seems that what I have to say has already been covered in the comments above, Mark. But I will add that these drawings are quite remarkable and worth posting.

Well, you've really grabbed my attention with these. You do this litle graphic odes to bottles so beautifully. I love bottles. I have an assortment along my windows. Hubby just rolls his eyes when he spots new ones, grins. In the summer I have to find new homes for them so I can open the windows. I can just visualize them in a window, greens and blues .. sunlight streaming through them ...

These are wonderful and have such a delicate feeling to them. I love the theme that runs through these pieces. It one of a great expansion that exists quietly and slowly through the small openings. Marvelous work!

These very interesting little bottles really catch my eye and it is no wonder you get attached to them when you make such a lovely effort with each. I love the texture and shine of the bottom one it is outstanding.
