Description
These are natural frost crystals. They were formed over a week of intense cold weather in shaded areas north of Juneau. They formed a blanket on almost all exposed surfaces in one area, like feathery white comforters an inch thick.
Tomorrow's photo will be a closeup capture of one of these feathery crystals, showing the structures on the macro level.
