Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Oh Marilyn, this rocks! It has something of a spooky X-Files UFO-Abduction quality to it. That light shining through the wood slats is just astounding and incredibly moody, and the dark atmosphere surrounding it just adds to that light. It's wonderful work. Slightly ominous, but not uninviting. It could be many different things, and that's why I like this. The UFO abduction thing doesn't have to figure into this at all...it could simply be daylight and a barn, or a study of light and shadow, or a textbook illustration of something dealing with geometry...and of course, as always, just a really great photograph that rewards close inspection. This really grabs me and I can go on and on forever about it, but instead, I'm gonna just shut up so I can go look at it again.

Woooo, this is a goodie. I feel, once again, that I've been here before but that this is a completely different POV and hence a completely different place. Well done.

Une superbe composition où s'introduit la lumière - Ouvres-moi ta porte !

This is excellent! You've exposed this just right so that the contrast between the light outside and the details is perfect. It looks quite inviting, actually!

mystery incarnate, and the light just pours into the place and makes the darkness & emptiness seem even more mysterious & imbued. You do abandoned spaces so well, under piers, this barn, and other spots including beaches themselves. You have a second sense for the life in them, and for the whispers of life that was once in them and is probably hovering inside them as we speak. It's almost a Native American sensibility, for spirit of objects & nature. Mysterious & beautiful, very mystical. And I like the hints of the roof above it all...ghost life in those beams...Beautiful.

A great posting for Halloween. Is this the barn where the owl flew out at you? Spooky capture and feels like you had special effects working for you. Dana

I love this! Fantastic, eerie shot! Like Chip, my first thought was The X-Files, being an X-Phile (Chip's the Trekker) my File Cabinet Brain opened up and pulled out: Season Three, Episode Two: "Paperclip." Airdate, September 29th, 1995 and then played the X Files theme on the computer while looking at this picture. Spoooooky! Great shot. In ending, I just have to quote that episode, where the UFO (light suspended on a metal rack and raised by a crane as Mulder is shown in eerie silhouette: SCULLY: off in the distance (as usual) Mulder! Where are you? MULDER: Scully? SCULLY: Mulllll-derrrr (gunshot fire offscreen: fade to black, raise opening titles.) Special cinematography effects by Marilyn. Needless to say, I kinda like this.
