Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

the light quality is beautiful, and the blue-grays, like deep metal. It's a beautiful shot, the light is beautiful (you even got the spotlight it made on the horizon), and another capture of this magnificent beast you walk by so often. And your words about JoAnn I'm sure are true: How can the ocean not call one who's passed, to it? Maybe it was like someone showing you a panorama of a city you've just arrived at--from a hotel balcony--to say, "this is the place you'll be seeing, starting tomorrow!" Maybe the ocean was showing her the vista she was about to enter, and embracing her like an all-protecting mother...and you heard her cry out, as she passed, "I'm in the wind!" Wonderful picture; and I'm with bill: To the faves...

I know what you mean. Sometimes a moment in nature is so beautiful it stops you in your tracks and a passed loved ones face just appears. Yes definately pause for thought.

The pause is what matters my dear! You felt one, you felt something, and like a child seeing Santa Claus at Christmas that has become far to secular, you definitely sensed something profound. What's even better is that you captured it. That light and those darker, very turbulent colors work in a strange and wonderful way together. (I read turbulence mostly because of what darker clouds always imply.) This is an image of a pause, and more than that it's like a true haiku (14th century style) that's presented with depth and real soul, and is somehow improvised and caught on the fly. (Chiyo-ni and Bassho were undisputed masters at that.) I also want to say that Corey wanted to comment on this, but didn't get the chance. Things are a bit...well...let's just say that Corey is doing really well...and on a level, incredibly well...but whenever I visit and whenever we're sharing computer space/time, a particular roommate of his develops something I've come to call Chronic Interference Syndrome. So suffice it to say that you're going to be receiving at least one more comment on this, minimum. I could easily type it for him as he dictates it, but he wants the comment to be his own...typed with his own fingers, and in many pronounced ways, your work (especially this piece) really drives that point home for him. And so having said that, I'll say for both of us, this image is superb.
