Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Of course you'd like this...aren't these your favorite colors? I do the same thing. I'll work up a picture, make it ready to post...and then sit on it for a month until it grows on me again. This is a happy mood upload...good sign:)

Break the bonds that bind me.... Terrific clarity, lighting, textures and unique contrast between the harsh rope and the delicate petals in this neato macro, Marilyn!

This is wonderful. I don't know if you know this, but that line happens to be one of Corey's favorites. He had a tiny, little bit part as an extra in a movie in which he was a hostage in a robbery or something and he had to be tied up. The thing is he had to be left tied up between takes. They made sure he was comfortable and that nothing was pinching...and well...his scene made it as far as the cutting room floor. I think it was a Grade-Z movie that no one saw, but hey...that's Corey's acting credit and I thought of that because that's what his answering machine message said at the time he was catching his 10 seconds of unseen fame. Anyway...WOW! What vivid colors! What textures. I'm gonna have to go out and buy some twine now and see if I can get botanical shots like this. Of course Corey would probably just duct tape a flower in place. Ah, but some guys are like that. I love this shot and I love how it's making all of these bizarre associations pop up in my mind. It's a brilliant photo in more ways than one and I love the spash of color in so colorless a season here in Chicago. Great work.

another "everyday shot" that you turn into a splash of color & abstract form. Do you realize what energy you carry around in you all the time? I don't know what the rope is doing there, but as you know I don't know gardening from a hole in the ground, so I'm sure it has a purpose. It's just, in this shot, it's part of the design, so it doesn't really matter. A big exuberant in your face shot & real Marilyn stuff! (And btw, that story from Chip, about Corey: Great story! His 15 seconds of fame, and he's tied up for hours! Sorry we didn't get to see the Director's Cut...)

Super colors plus textures on the orange tulip. Dana
