Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Yup. I live in California and I know that feeling...don't we all out here. I heard about the quake but we are, of course, too far to have felt this one but I remember the last big one out of San Francisco. My car changed lanes at a stop light on my way home from work. Glad you are ok. Now to wait to hear from my kids in Ft. Bragg. Too bad about the margarita glass... that's a tragic loss. LOL

Marilyn you are a bad influence, LOL ...it is after midnight here...you mention a margarita glass...I think, why don't I fix myself some adult beverage...quick before my glasses break. Back to your picture above...great idea and I think your title is perfect.

And out of chaos comes beauty...

I have to first LMAO @ Bill.... How funny! Oh Hun, I'm glad you are fine. When I saw your upload I quickly put the TV on CNN and they just mentioned it. Luckily it doesn't seem that much damage was done - just your precious margarita glass - which is tragic! Glad you are ok and the image is superb... I love the light!

Well there's the saying 'It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good': is there a similar one for quakes? SUPERB image, Marilyn! what a corker!

great capture & colors sorry for this 'lost'

Oh my! I remember the quakes in Harbison Canyon and Chula Vista, as well as those in Washington state! In fact thats the only thing I don't miss from Washington! Glad you are okay and that the loss was minimal, beautiful colors in this!!!

Wow! I didn't know you guys had an earthquake till I read your newer post. Hope all is well and be safe. Aloha

I'm glad you're OK! I experienced a very mild quake once in Japan, That was enough to convince me, if I had needed convincing, that I'd just as soon not experience another. Your glassware, though broken is quite beautiful here! Lovely color, light, and edges!

Nice work.

Carin and I were talking about your quake last night, and she just couldn't understand my lack of concern. LOL! I can't wait to hear all about it! Was it a roller, or a shaker?

more super light and color

Now this is really odd. I didn't know there had been an earthquake up north. And I do follow the news on TV and the Internet. In any event, except for some broken glass, shattered nerves, and the awareness of your own mortality, you seem to have survived the event okay. Superb clarity, color spectrum, lighting and texture in this marvo macro, Marilyn. I'm just waiting for the "big one" to hit us down here in Southern Cal.

Aww, sad that you lost these lovely pieces in the quake; I lost an antique mirror in the Loma Prieta quake in 1989. Glad you're OK, though. Great picture!

Jeez! I'm so out of it. I haven't heard the news or anything, but I'm glad you're okay. 6-point-anything on the Richter scale is scary enough for me. I'll stick with snow...well...no...I won't. But the earth moving is a bit freaky for me. I hate that there was any damage at all, especially in regard to Margarita-ware, but you did get a great photo out of it, and I love the way your mind works! The earth shakes and you think of posting! Typical of a photo-ninja. I slipped on an incline, fell (didn't hurt anything) and all I could think of was: "D**n, I wish Corey got a shot of that...it would have been one sweet "on the fly" capture." Needless to say, Corey was too busy going "oh my god!" And I was too busy communing with ice and gravity on an incline. Anyway, I'm rambling, but I'm glad nothing more than glass was damaged, and yeah...sometimes it's best to lay off on the exercise. And as for this shot. WOW. Again you do this color thing so perfectly. (Oh, and by the way, Chicago is sitting right on a fault-line. We're due for a big one soon...it's late and the last one we had didn't shake so much as just rumble like a really big truck passing by a bit too closely.)

amazing that hardly anyone above heard of the quake, even the next day. You have to know, I hadn't heard of it till you called me back, and your message started something like, "well, guess what? We had an earthquake!" I accidentally erased that, which kills me because I may never get a message like that on my answering machine again! The shot is more than broken glass, it's a big burst of light & two really contrasting hues: The luminous blue of the glass against that peach-orange wall. Terrific combination, and a real-life capture, as if you took it the minute the quake hit. Love it---not the quake, the shot!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been on lately and I have been so busy , I haven''t even been watching the news! I am so glad you are ok. I hate earthquakes, they always scared the heck out of me, of course my mom would scream hysterically even for tremors, so I guess that didn't help. Material things can be replaced , the important thing is that you are ok. For there is only one Marilyn in this world and you are priceless and irreplaceable.
