WOW ! It is an amazing capture with the smoke against the sun from different places and the light is so fantastic. A wonderful shot again Mark :-D

I love the muted tones and the restricted colour range in this. But I have to say I could NOT live there! I need to be 10 seconds from the outdoor ground.

Stunning photo here Mark and it really sums it all up so well. I think this is what it meant by a city having life as it looks and feels here almost like the city is breathing as it struggles to get going on another cold winter morning.

Perfect title Mark! I agree with Daves comment and like Andrea, I prefer closer to the ground (as you know, lol) Its a great early morning shot, the light is wonderful. It must be great for you to have such a view out your window. For some reason this reminds me of the 'alone' feeling one gets at a secluded spot on a lake or river...the buildings also remind me of stalagmites as they reach for the 'ceiling' overhead. Very nice work Sir Mark!

Even the buildings breathe--wow--this is amazing. I can almost see them shiver in that ice cold, makes me want to bring jackets and coats to cover them up, but I'm not sure they make them quite that big!! Wonderful image of a very cold Chicago morning, one not most of us will ever see.

I like mornings. I like cold mornings. The type you have to pull a heavy pile of covers up to get that toasty feeling. This is that morning...right there in your photograph. It has that touch...the sun just lighting up the corners of each apartment's deck. Soon everything will be bathed in sunlight...but the magic of this moment will be gone for another day. This has that special sense of perishability to it. Fine photo!

A super capture with a cool winter feel. I love how the steam shows up as cute little clouds that break up the surface of the buildings.

Oh yes, it does have an overall frigid ambiance, with the hot vapor hitting the cold air. Or is that smoke? Along with yourself, the morning lighting did its excellent part in producing this fabulous image of Chicago landmarks, Mark!

Sunday mornings in a big city always have a lonesome feel to them. Makes me think of the Kris Kristofferson song, "Sunday Morning Coming Down". Gorgeous scene .. you could photograph this a thousand times, and it would be different each time.

WOW! It's cold out there! Steam and smoke coming out of chimneys and looking like that means that it's very nice and warm inside. This shot is gorgeous! I like how real it seems. I mean it IS real, but is is very sharp and very ambient, like the way a city looks when the sun is shining through stuff coming out of chimneys. This is really great.

Winter's Breath - what a wonderful title and so appropriate from these tall giants. I often see the smoke belching like giant clouds from factory chimneys - now it will be more poetic. CC

Okay, listen. You went on and on about my saturated whites, and LOOK at this! It's fabulous! It's sooooooo much easier for me to see it in your work than in mine. Fabulous!!

Those skyscrapers look like dragons, don't they? They are trying to breathe some fire into that bitterly cold air. Great scene. I love that washed out sky against the chilly blue buildings.

It's interesting how a busy city can look so calm in the right light. Even the smoke stacks are lazily puffing out steam/smoke. It looks cool and crisp and maybe the cars can be heard in the distance. Gives me a very calming feeling to view this as I imagine most of the city to be asleep.

fine capture and colours, so sad that the only way to be 10 second from the outdoor ground is jumping :-) not my cup of tea.

Fantastic image Mark. Your title is very evocative. I dont know if you captured that, from your window...i think so! you captured a closed view...it scare me a bit...its a dramatic scene for me, in the way i feel the place...The blue tones...the isolation, though we feel all that people are inside the buildings, because we see the smoke...that is shinning strangely, bringing so much mistery at same time. Great scene. Great photo.
