OH, this is simply breathtaking, Mark. The B&W is perfect here, shows all the detail and shadows so well. I really love the twisty trunks, they almost look as though they are moving!!

These are fabulous Florida trees and you captured them perfectly Mark. I like, that you took away some of the colors too, so they dont disturb the shapes and shades. EXCELLENT!

Outstanding 'mono/duochrome' image, Mark! This would have been a winner at my old camera club when we still made our own prints.

Aww! The beautiful tree from your dedi:-)I would recognize it anywhere! Simply wonderful capture Mark, there is so much to see in that lovely tree and its counterparts behind! I love the twists that seem to be embracing each other and the roots from each tree that reach out and 'hold hands'. Its lovely how it seems the branches have let their shade have spots in between for the sun to just peek thru. This is magic Mark, pure magic! If that was where I lived, that tree is where I would ground myself!

I agree with Marilyn - the monochrome works perfectly! What a delightful play between light and shadow! And those trees - I am fascinated by their platted trunks. When I first looked I thought they look a bit unfriendly but when I looked again and closer, it seems like open, welcoming arms! Brilliant image Mark! Hope you are having a great rest! :)

They truly are amazing Mark and I have never seen anything like them before. I think the decision to do this is black and white was the right one as it gives them such character.

absolute delightful, beautiful, mark! look at all these branches and their detail, i wonder how confusing this look is while it is calming at the same time. and isnt it a view that makes one feel respect for these treasures, and we can enjoy them each day. i love trees and look how beautiful you have seen this one :) you have a fine sunday too!

This is a magical view, for me, Mark! Much more than a photo, much more than a tree in a garden. This tree, like a godness, open arms, top to bottom, till their roots, is honouring that place, blessing him and protecting him. Your image speaks to me!You did this wonderfully!Your choice of the point of view is majestic, and gave a perspective of infinit. Yet, something mithic also...with the triangle formation on the trees..The luminousity, the shadows and the B/W are an add to the mystery of nature. Well, nature has all this indeed!

This is outstanding, Mark. The hint of green you've left in this is superb! I'm starting to think maybe you've been stringing me along all this time, with all that talk of camera-as-alien-being-not-to-be-touched-without-a-license stuff. This is masterful! The contrast is perfect and the composition is heart stopping. I wouldn't change a thing. Absolutely spectacular work!

The very epitome of tree photography in this magnificent foto, Mark! Love the dappled light and shadow that emphasizes the bizarre structure of the tree trunks, limbs and branches of these venerable arboreal beauties.

Oh Mark! I recognised these from your dedi to Gea too. No wonder the place behind the veil was so sacred. There is an essence about trees that draws me into the heart of the Earth. And it's hard to stand next to a massive and ancient tree without feeling the weight and majesty of time. And these trees are amazing. A seemingly thick trunk made up of numerous small trunks twisted and wrapped together and then branching out in glorious freedom as they reach the sky. I agree with anaber and understand why so many humans have worshiped trees. It seem intuitive that one should do so. Beautiful dappled light, and branches reaching up to the top of the image, and emphasizing wide sweep of the branches overhead. These are wonders of nature and you have captured them superbly.

Ah...Florida. Around the part of Chicago I live in it's pronounced "Flaw-eh-dah" and apparently there aren't many people from this neck of the woods from that neck of the woods...they're mostly from "Miss-ssippi" which always reminds me of some Southern Belle's name. As if they're going to call on Miss Sippi" and ax for her han' in marriage or something. Funny how a single image evokes all of that. I suspect for Corey it'll evoke something a bit closer to what he's actually experienced since he lived in Florida for a while and got a tan that lasted for 3 years after his return to Chicago. This is a fantastic image, and proof that I've been away from your gallery for too long, at least in terms of commenting. What wonderful textures, and I love the play of light and shadow. It's masterfully captured. I have no idea what kind of trees those are, but they remind me either of Mangroves or aliens...I don't know which...maybe both, since one shouldn't be forced to choose between two equally intriguing options. Have them both. Though this is monochrome, I love the vague bluish tint. In short, this is yet another wonderful photo and I love this additional facet to your already sensitive and precise artistic expression. This is a masterful work.

Sigh .. this is heart-wrenchingly beautiful. I have a "thing" about trees. These fig (I think) trees are practically magical the way they send their roots down and how they intertwine to the point of becoming a sculpture. What you've done to this photo just increases the sense of mysticism. The almost monocromatic black and and white is perfect with just the hint of green to take away the starkness of B&W.

I saw many of these trees and was completely awestruck by the root system. I also took many photos of how the light hits the roots and leaves wonderful shadows. I usually wish I could walk into your photos to touch the surface. I can say the same about this one as the black and white brings out the textures and mottled shadows. Very well done.
