Description

A view of the crowd that gathered at Prato della Valle, Padova, first for the distribution of eight thousand Befana's socks full of candies for the children, donated by a supermarket chain, and then for the bonfire. This wasn't the only bonfire in town, actually there were almost three or four more, and others in the smaller towns of the province, but this was the hugest. The crowd was immense, with an estimate of about 30,000 people. Many were families of immigrants from Eastern Europe, since Epiphany is the beginning of their Christmas, according to the Greek Orthodox calendar. In order to reach a good position to get a good view of the bonfire, I behaved at my worst, elbowing my way, pushing those who had already there aside, treading on the weakling, bullying the coward into give me room and not disturb my shots moving their heads. I did it only for you, to give you some good shots. I hope you'll appreciate my spirit of sacrifice.... Thank you for your kind comments.

Sandra this is a magnificent capture of the crowd at this event for the children. So nice of the supermarket to donate the candy and it looks like fun for everyone. I especially liked the little lady peering back at you from under her covers

First, fine photo! Second, its' worth has been multiplied by the heroic effots you put forth for us... I wonder how many weaklings looked up from their POV face down on the ground and wondered in fear...who was that crazy lady with the camera?

Oh that must have been wonderful for the children of your town, and that little one in view should keep warm she is so well wrapped. I love the colour of the sky in the distance, and the whole scene is full of interest! hugs Jane xx

Hmmm, 30,000 people gathered in one place and no political protest? That's something you don't see everyday. Let me add my voice to those congratulating you on 'getting the shot'. You embody the true sprit of the paparazzi. Wonderful image and description.
